The SETA Membership Drive is On!

Now is the time to join the official user's group of SunGard Higher Education. SETA - SunGard Higher Education Technology Association, Inc. SETA represents and supports the interests of all SunGard Higher Education clients: Banner, Plus, Luminis, PowerCAMPUS, Matrix, and Campus Pipeline. Why should you join SETA? SETA provides a number of benefits that are not available anywhere else.

• SETA, in conjunction with SunGard, is about to release a Code Repository. This Repository is a Web site where SETA users can post locally developed code, and SETA members will be able to search the software developed by other SETA members, download it, install it, and deliver that software to their campus community. SETA has been working with SunGard to develop this Code Repository and it is being beta tested now.
• SETA holds 5 regional conferences: SETA Central, SETA Southeast, SETA Midwest, SETA West, and SETA Northeast. Your annual membership helps reduce the individual conference registration fee for all regional conferences. SETA hosts these conferences to offer “backyard” opportunities to the users of SunGard Higher Education Products to facilitate the exchange of information and knowledge in a variety of user sessions as well as sessions from experts at SunGard and other vendors. SETA regional conferences offer a low-cost, multiple-day conference with a dynamic, varied program of sessions and exhibits, reasonable travel, and affordable hotels in a conference sized for meeting and talking with your colleagues from your state, region and beyond. However, all SunGard users are welcome at any SETA conference whether they reside in that region or not.
• SETA has a great web site. At SETA’s web site one can find the dates of coming conferences, online membership directory, and much, much more SETA information. However, searching the SETA online membership directory requires a user ID and password available only by becoming a SETA member. Searches can be by name, institution, product, and/or functional area. How many times have you wanted to find someone else running the same product or module!
• SETA membership also allows members to post position announcements on the web site’s Job Opps page at no charge. That alone is worth the membership. Look at how much you spend for one advertisement in the newspaper and then look at how many applications respond to web postings instead of ads.
• SETAetc, the SETA newsletter, (usually published online quarterly) delivers news about SETA and its activities. SETAetc also includes articles of interest for professional development and daily life. SETAetc provides a complete package of information on each regional conference online so you can decide which regional conference fits your needs - time of year, content of the program, cost of travel, hotel and registration, or choice of location.
• SETA is here to facilitate communication; if we are not the contact you need, we will do our best to discover whom you need to reach and how to reach them.
• Members vote for their leaders, the SETA Board of Directors.
• Last, but not least, you should join because it’s the right thing to do! SETA is YOUR user group. SETA exists to help and support the SunGard users. However, SETA is independent of SunGard and that allows SETA to be more responsive to the needs of its members in more open and unique ways.
